Biogas is a mixture of gases including methane (about 65%), CO 2  (30%) and a little NH 3 , H 2 S and other gases. Biogas energy mainly from methane. Methane has heating value is 1012 btu / ft 3  (or 9005 kcal / m 3 ) at 15.5 ° C and 1 atm. Biogas heating value of about 500 to  700 BTU / ft 3  (4450  -  6230 Kcal / m 3 ).

For small biogas digester (1  -  5 m 3 ) installation for household waste disposal problems of living or animal manure, biogas is used for cooking, lighting and heating. For large biogas digester for wastewater treatment industries or large farms, biogas is used to heat water for the boiler, or run the internal combustion engine.

Waste of biogas digester is a nutrient-rich source of valuable fertilizers. Waste water is used to feed the algae or plankton animals (Moina) to make fish food or fertilizer directly into the pond. Solid waste is dried and spread on the fields, or fertilize fish ponds.
