"COMPLETED PROCESS HANDLING TECHNOLOGY leachate GO CAT, CAPACITY 10 M 3 / DAY
Handover unit: Department of Science & Technology Ho Chi Minh City
Unit-chaired Advisory Centre Technology and Environment CTA
Project leader: Eng. Vietnamese Nguyen Thu

1. Introduction
In contracts for scientific research and technology development of the 175 / HD-SKHCN 28/11/2006 between Department of Science & Technology Center Ho Chi Minh City and Consulting, Technology and Environment Centre CTA.Trung CTA has studied and come to a complete process technology leachate treatment capacity go Cat 10m 3 / day.
2. Diagram technology pilot treatment system

- In the technological scheme of the Centre for the CTA, the process of anaerobic biodegradation is performed by means of suspended growth biomass is added at the beginning stages combined with methane recovery (biogas) and contribute to fuel savings in the process.
- Phase aerobic applications can cost tack, enhance microbial density in equipment and strengthening contact between contaminants and microorganisms in water, whereby the decomposition efficiency is much higher, in addition there is also work to reduce device size and lower the device layout substantially.
3. Actual Operating Results
- Parameters of leachate pollution inputs:
COD = 21000-26000 mg / l; NH 4 + = 3000-4000 mg / l; pH = 6.8 to 7.2
- Parameters of leachate contamination after 45 days anaerobic (13/02/2007):
COD = 2300 mg / l; NH 4 + = 2000 mg / l; pH = 7.5
Comment:
After 45 days of treatment with the original's biomass and anaerobic circulating in the tub, COD index fell from 87 to 89.6%, NH 4 + reduced 33-50%, the pH of the leachate increased but not much. Thus, the stage of collecting biogas anaerobic significantly reduce the pollution parameters, especially COD. Additionally, after 10 days anaerobic, Centre CTA gained a considerable amount of biogas, applications for burning clay. Compared to the process was conducted in the laboratory of the Centre for the CTA, the model pilot anaerobic stage for constant results.
- Parameters of leachate contamination after aerobic treatment:
COD = 1000 - 1200 mg / l; NH 4 + = 200-300 mg / l; pH = 9.3
Comment:
After the aerobic phase, COD reduced from 35-43% and NH 4 + 85-90% reduction compared to the COD after anaerobic stage. Compared with the results obtained in the laboratory, the COD, NH 4 + in the landfill will not achieve results in the laboratory because aeration system can not operate continuously.
